Last night I watched the Alfred Hitchcock movie Vertigo for the first time in years. Its always really strange watching old movies and comparing them to popular movies and tv shows today. The way people dress, act, gender roles, everything is super different!!
VERTIGO--mad for it! I'd love to go on a Hitchcock kick this summer. Do you think a 1st year seminar that was all Hitchcock all the time would fly?
ReplyDeletenever seen that movie but it is an interesting to compare past to present and even future
ReplyDeleteI have yet to see this movie, but definitely one I really want to check out in the near future. I completely agree with you on how completely different old movies are compared to new ones. Not only are the costumes, gender roles, etc different, but even some of the way the scenes are filed seem to be a lot different to some of the shots used today.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen Vertigo, but I am a fan of Hitchcock's movies. In high school I took a film class, and we watched Psycho and Rear Window. I loved them! We compared the new Psycho to Hitchcock's original and the new one was so terrrrible that we didn't even watch the whole thing. Did you know that he appears somewhere in the background as an extra in all of his movies? I thought that was really cool when I learned that.
ReplyDeleteI havent got to see this flick, but if you definetly recommend it then i will get it and see it. But dont make me see it for noting.
ReplyDeleteVertigo is an incredible movie. Besides Psycho (which is a given) Vertigo just may be one of his best movies. But another one that seems to get pushed aside by so many people is a neat movie called "Rope". It was a movie about two college guys who kill their friend and then host a party with the dead guy cleverly hidden under a large trunk in the same room where the party is being held. Awesome movie.
